TRI-M, Mecano Metal de Moçambique is a fully Mozambican owned company, it was established in 1994 with the major objective to provide Mozambique with high quality engineering and construction services. Our Head Office is situated in Matola about 15 km from the capital city Maputo and operates in all Mozambican provinces. We have started as an engineering company, however over the years we have invested in real estate industry, such as real estate rental (houses, warehouses and workshops), a fuel supply station with convenience store, heavy machinery retals in Moatize and Matola (forklift, mobile crane, TLB, dump truck, motor grader & compactor). And that is how The Waves Lodge blossomed.
Situated approximately 692 km from Johannesburg, 400km from Durban, 12km from Manguzi (Kosi Bay Border Post), in the southern most part of Mozambique. Ponta D´Ouro is situated approximately 10km measured from the coastline of Kosi Bay and Sodwana.
Ponta do Ouro or “Point of Gold” gets its name from the fact that early Portuguese explorers were misled by unreliable maps thinking that gold might be found there.
Upon arrival they found that the dunes were rich in black titanium but the only gold in the area was the colour of the setting sun shining over the long white beaches. Essentially this area is an extension of South Africa’s Maputaland but far more pristine. The historical truth might never be known but the modern day value of what is one of the most beautiful and unspoiled bays in the world can certainly lay claim to golden treasures.
